The Forest of Dean’s very own business start up service ‘Forest of Dean Entrepreneurs’ has run a second annual Forest Enterprise Fair as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 (the nation’s largest entrepreneurship-focused campaign) with the help of event sponsors Learn Direct, Ultimate Cleaning Solutions, UnLtd and Adult Education in Gloucestershire.
Project volunteer and business start-up tutor Miranda Jenkins says “We were thrilled at the turnout at our Enterprise Fair on 19th November at Forest Hills Golf Club near Coleford. We had twice as many visitors as last year, with a wide range of business services and entrepreneurs exhibiting. Our seminars on hot topics such as website marketing and pricing, as well as business networking and brainstorming sessions were very popular and well- attended”.
Feedback from the attendees included:
Project co-ordinator Andrew Maliphant added “It is really encouraging to see more people coming – it shows there is a real need for this event, and we are delighted to be able to help local people who are either starting up their new business or looking for help with their existing business”.
The Forest of Dean Entrepreneurs also plans to help even more people who can’t otherwise access business services through a grant of £500 from the Co-operative Community Fund. This money can be used to help budding entrepreneurs with problems such as transport or childcare that prevent them from attending training or other business events. Details of future events can be found on the project’s website www.fodentrepreneurs.co.uk or the project’s Facebook page, and for any advice or help please contact Andrew on 07772 053778.
