Aimed Business logoJust the weekend to go before the Forest Enterprise Fair at Speech House on 16th. So our last Featuring is on Aimed Business. Aimed Business will be there with a stall on Monday and is a Forest of Dean Entrepreneurs project sponsor.

Who are you?

Name: Andrew Callard

Name of your business: Aimed Business

Website address:

Business Motivation

1. What did you do before your current business?
I ‘ve worked in many different sectors building £1M businesses for others or delivering consultancy and training services with a focus on the practical application of technology, innovation and leadership.

Before launching Aimed Business, I was managing Versarien group’s Innovate-UK research projects and running a digital marketing consultancy for small businesses.

2. What made you start your current business?
Three key reasons:

  1. Much of my career has been spent reducing the social costs of business failure by providing timely knowledge and skills to all types of businesses. So it’s what I know and am recognised for.
  2. I’m happiest when challenged by the variety of problems and sectors provided by smaller businesses where real impact is achieved through their solution.
  3. Having been a Deputy Principal and senior operational manager in large organisations, Aimed Business gives me the lifestyle I want of seeing my children, running around the Forest and enjoying my work.

3. What do you most enjoy about your business?
Being allowed to use my knowledge and skills to solve problems that really matter for start-up, lifestyle and fast growth businesses.

Then seeing the businesses and individuals I work with, survive and flourish and above all achieve the goals they want.

4. If you had a magic wand what would you change about your business?
Continue to overcome the perception that what I offer must cost a lot, when it doesn’t.

Useful business tips

5. Do you have any useful tips or ideas that you could share?
Understand your own why, which forms the basis of any plan.

This means taking some time now to work out why you are in business and then set out measurable goals. If your aim is to be a millionaire (curiously the least likely) or a boat or better lifestyle then what do you need to achieve this year and next to prove to yourself that you’re getting there. Then turn that goal into an image or an item that’s in your ‘office/car’ to remind and motivate you, when times turn tough.

So if you want to find out what Andrew of Aimed Business uses to remind him, ask him on Monday at Speech House after 12.30!
